GET INVOLVED WITH OUR COMMUNITY TASK FORCE
Volunteer Spotlight
Will Stein is helping the Green Task Force reimagine climate education. He works in the field of climate technology and specializes in partnership development and community engagement. Will recently completed his Masters in Climate at Columbia University, and has worked at leading-edge companies like Google, Carbon Lighthouse, and WeaveGrid. He's excited to apply his skills in Westchester and across New York State to make energy cleaner and the world greener (... yes, that's a falcon!).
The Green Policy Task Force is supported by volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds and areas of expertise. We operate through five key committees - each tackling a vital aspect of environmental policy and community well-being. Volunteers commit approximately 2 hours per week (or about 8 hours per month) to help drive this important work forward.
There are hundreds of reasons to join us - check out the committee highlights below:
Air, Climate, and Energy Committee
Focuses on reducing air pollution, advancing clean-energy solutions, and addressing climate impacts at the local and statewide levels. This committee researches policy gaps, evaluates emerging technologies, and advocates for sustainable energy systems that protect both people and the planet.
Public Health Committee
Examines how environmental issues - from toxins to heatwaves - affect our health. This team works on policies that reduce environmental health risks, improve community resilience, and ensure that vulnerable populations are protected from environmental harm and social well being.
Education Committee
Works to expand environmental literacy through STEM curriculum development, community workshops, youth programs, and accessible educational resources. This committee aims to empower all age groups with the knowledge needed to take climate-positive action.
Ecosystems Committee
Concentrates on the protection and restoration of natural habitats including forests, wetlands, waterways, and wildlife corridors. Members study ecological threats, promote biodiversity, and help craft policies that safeguard ecosystems for future generations.
Outreach Committee
Builds public awareness and partnerships through communications, events, and community engagement. This committee ensures that our work reaches decision-makers, organizations, and everyday residents - and that the movement for a sustainable future continues to grow.
